Release Athens 2023 welcomes Wu-Tang Clan on Thursday, July 27<\/span>th<\/span>, at Plateia Nerou. RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck and Cappadonna or, to put <\/span>it<\/span> simply, the biggest and most important hip-hop band of all time, will <\/span>close this year\u2019s edition of<\/span> the festival in <\/span>an<\/span> ideal way.<\/span><\/p>\n

This Press Release could only mention the nine members of Wu Tang Clan who will take the stage at Plateia Nerou on the night of July 27<\/span>th<\/span>. They are all hip-hop legends and, together, they form the greatest and most influential group in the history of th<\/span>e<\/span> scene, a band without which the hip-hop world would be completely different.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wu-Tang Clan formed in New York City\u2019s Staten Island in the early 1990s. Led by the production of RZA, the group would define the East Coast sound of the U.S.A., releasing eight studio albums, including their seminal debut “Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers),” which not only reached triple platinum status, but earned its place as one of the greatest albums the hip-hop scene has ever produced.<\/span><\/p>\n

Having as trademark the use of samples from <\/span>martial arts films (<\/span>their name is a reference to <\/span>a <\/span>1983 martial arts movie<\/span>), Wu-Tang Clan influenced and continue to influence the next generations of producers (such as Jay-Z, Nas and Kanye West) and laid <\/span>down <\/span>the foundations that led the scene to the recognition and commercial <\/span>success<\/span> it has experienced in recent years. At the same time, they asserted their independence from record labels and grew into successful entrepreneurs who created an empire that included everything from clothing and video games to books <\/span>and acting credits<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their live performances are a family and democratic affair, with every member of the crew representing the lyrical contributions to their back catalogue, as well as notable cuts their solo careers and the legacy of their departed brother and founding member, Ol’ Dirty Bastard.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday, July 27<\/span>th<\/span>, at Plateia Nerou, we will have the pleasure of hosting the most iconic hip-hop crew of all time, in a historic performance that we have been waiting for years.<\/span><\/p>\n
